At the heart of the ancient citrus orchard lies a large water reservoir, once used to store water for irrigation.
Its presence bears witness to the estate’s historic water-management system
and to the deep connection between water and Cala Grande’s agricultural activities.

Overlooking the reservoir is a statue of Queen Victoria, making this place even more distinctive and recognisable.
Surrounded by citrus trees, a stone wall and woodland vegetation,
it is now a feature of both historical and landscape interest.

The water it holds also provides a small but valuable resource for local wildlife during the warmer months.
The Vascone therefore preserves the memory of its original purpose
while contributing to the natural balance of the citrus orchard and its surrounding environment.
