The Olive Grove
Olive Grove · Extra Virgin Olive Oil · Monte Argentario
The olive grove covers a significant part of the estate and comprises approximately 850 trees.
distributed across the slopes and in the most open, sunlit areas.
Gli ulivi si alternano ai vigneti, ai boschi di lecci e alla vegetazione spontanea, disegnando un paesaggio antico e profondamente mediterraneo.
The olive grove features a mix of Leccino, Frantoio, Pendolino and Moraiolo cultivars, including many centuries-old trees.
These varieties have adapted to the limestone soils and the warm, breezy climate of Monte Argentario.
The constant circulation of air limits moisture on the foliage, helping to naturally reduce the risk of major fungal diseases.
The harvest follows the natural rhythm of the season and produces Cala Grande’s extra virgin olive oil, characterised by an intense aromatic profile, with herbaceous notes and hints of artichoke and almond, as well as a high content of phenolic compounds.
The olive grove is managed with particular attention to soil fertility, biodiversity and the conservation of natural resources.
This care has become even more important due to the effects of climate change, which expose the trees to periods of drought,
heavy rainfall and new sources of environmental stress.
